Mr. Miyagi
by James Shandrowski
You sat in front of the television,
you see a lesson from Mr. Miyagi.
Daniel stands on the bow of the boat.
You think of learning to solve the Rubik’s Cube,
Your friend did too, only he can do it 10 seconds faster than you.
Daniel practices throwing punches.
You think of how you are doing in school.
You have two bachelor’s degrees
that’s good,
but your relative has three with a master’s degree.
Daniel wonders why Mr. Miyagi is scared to fight.
You wonder if you will finally ever be able to win.
Daniel tells Mr. Miyagi he shouldn’t be afraid, he knows
Karate.
Mr. Miyagi replies,
“Someone will always know more.”
Lesson learned from the Karate Kid.
