“Miss You”

by Sophia O’Brien

I miss you.

I see you in the clouds.
I see you in the air.

You’re like a test that I wish I could pass.
Did I?
I don’t know?
I’m slow, but I don’t want to lose you.

Just because I knew you for a short time doesn’t mean I don’t like you.

I don’t mean to look the other way when I can’t face you.
I just feel alone without you.
I don’t know why I feel lonely.

I miss you.

Sometimes it feels like you are all in my head.

Just because I knew you doesn’t mean you’re a stranger in my mind.

You hide in my memory, and in my history.
You are a mystery that I can’t solve, and can’t dissolve.
Just don’t leave me.

I miss you.

I know you won’t really leave me.

Because you’re always with me.

I know you don’t really know me.
I don’t really know you.

But we are like family, so we should get along.

I don’t know if you like me or miss me.

I.

Miss.

You.

I don’t mean to pretend you don’t exist or to keep you hidden.
You may not be here, but you are always with me.

Just because I knew you, doesn’t mean I don’t know you.

I may be alone, but at least you’re there, and at least I knew you.
I don’t need proof that you exist.

Because.

I.

Miss.

You!
