“The Whispers of my Heart” – Genesis Jetter

Memo from the writer: This is a reverse poem, it is meant to be read down and then back up again to reveal a new meaning.

There lies the whispers of my heart

Born through the joys of the world

Stories of the love untold

My heart racing through my words

Imagination coming to life inside of a repurposed page

A voice in my head telling me to fill it

Solving world problems in a way that I can be heard

My mind finally understood

Innocence written through magical fantasy

A story taking shape through the virtues in my life

As life goes on my stories unfold

Love still overflows

Destruction starts to grow

Horrors starting to take shape

Monsters from my mind coming to life

The older I grow, the more monsters I face

The older I grow, the more I write to remember my heart

Heart beating fast for the fears exposed

My heart changing as childhood grows

The words that used to show joy now show despair

The words that used to show love now show my growth

My heart runs to the truth now more than before

Tears are the ink on my pages

Born through this hopeless world

There lies the whispers of my heart
